DANCE OF A WITCH
In a spiral of dark and luminous skies
Of cold and warm, of Moon and Sun,
A never ending dance of wane and wax belies
The age and the wisdom in eternal threads spun .
The dance is a story of entwining worlds nine
Spheres infinite and pure from without and within
For a far seeing eye and an open mind
Know the portals open for one to step therein .
Nine skins of many roads dreamed and workings shared
Where steps of old and new shuffle, flutter and scrape
Loud wails arising where silent voices blared
Their pride and their labour when birthing the landscape .
I follow home a thread blood red in colour
The blood as true as a rod into the Earth
In otherworlds I dance as the thread will wander
A visitor in search of knowledge and mirth .
In the dark of the night I hear the Raven
His black wing a comfort upon my shoulder ;
The tracks of a dog show me a path hidden
Where living, pulsing threads of red meander .
Every step of my journey back to the source,
The Will that was fulfilled when my dance, begun,
Is watched and guided through the stone and the gorse
The old, dark face of Earth most others will shun .
But my dance is merry and my heart does not lie
Naver alone a spark of nature's intent
The past, the future and the time to know why
Always of love and death, and birth, the portents .

INTERVIEW WITH AN ANCESTOR
On top of a hill a gentle voice
Whispering words of a meaning past
Fell into my ear and could rejoice
Once more understood, to speak at last .
I know you, I said into the wind
I feel your heart beating as is mine
How long have you been abroad searching
Across worlds following our blood line ?
Behind a hedge you measured your leap
And upon my heart unleashed a smile
Telling me the tales of sow and reap
That forged me strong instead of fragile .
As you touched my hair I caught a smell
Of roses red on a sunny wall
And I was back shouting in the well
For ancient names to answer my call .
Another one whose words I trusted
Said if I called you there you would hear
Years ago I called and i waited
And you made all that time disappear .
So many deaths and births between us
A mother like me, you can be proud
In my children's hearts burn the fires
You saw the May and Harvest around .
I love you, I said into the wind
I thank you for answering my call
And when in time I go wandering
For the comfort of a younger soul
Earth to Earth I shall follow your tread
Until I find along our blood line
One who called and patiently waited
To learn of the true age of their kind .
